Meridius Zero was conceived by singer and songwriter A J Lewis in late 2000. The music is a mixture of rock guitars, pianos, percussive grooves, and ambient synths. The lyrics explore the spiritual landscape of the self, telling the story of a life consumed by love, loss, and new beginnings.
The music is designed to be catchy – the type that you can sing along to. At times it can be fierce and heavy with distorted guitars, and at other times it can be soothing – bouncing around in dark reverb rooms, echoing pianos and soft melodies. “There are times during the production stage,” says A J Lewis, “when the instruments sound like they are from a type of dreamscape. Like you could be asleep and this is the music playing in the background of your mind. This is when I know I am going in the right direction. This is when I am the closest to my soul.”
